Who are we?

We are a passionate group of singers dedicated to barbershop music, a style that spans from its early days in the 1940s to contemporary songs of today. Our repertoire encompasses a rich variety, including heartfelt ballads that tug at the heartstrings, lively uptunes that lift spirits, whimsical nonsense songs that bring smiles, and engaging pieces that invite audience participation.

In our performances, we showcase the unique beauty of a cappella singing, demonstrating the intricate art of four-part harmony. Through our harmonies, we aim to not only entertain but also to connect with our audience on a deeper level. We include simple, catchy songs that resonate with listeners, making it easy for everyone to join in and enjoy the music together.

The Lock Cities Chorus has been an integral part of the musical fabric of both Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, for over 30 years. As an international chorus, we proudly boast members from both sides of the border, reflecting our commitment to unity through music. Throughout our history, we have been fortunate to benefit from the leadership of directors who have brought diverse perspectives and talents from across the region. As the only barbershop women's chorus in our area, we cherish our role in promoting and preserving this unique musical tradition.

Looking ahead, we are eager to expand our organization and welcome new voices, particularly encouraging men to join us in forming a mixed chorus. We believe that blending male and female voices will enhance our musical repertoire and deepen our community impact.

We extend a warm invitation to singers of all backgrounds and experience levels, from high school age and older, to join us. At Lock Cities Chorus, we embrace inclusivity, and reading music is not a prerequisite for participation.
